The Middle East is an area where car is king and fuel is cheap, frequently leaving little incentive to discover more environmentally-friendly methods of moving.

But this year, as protests across the Middle East have pressed up the rate of oil, the problem of discovering alternative sources of fuel has entered into sharp focus.

In an area that has among the highest carbon worldwide, one organization is benefiting from the growing pressure to discover alternatives to oil. It's set up the Middle East's first plan to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving rewarding too, already their client-list consists of McDonald's.
